No, there is a group of Cyanoacrylates that are called “toughened”. This group is usually black, but also comes in Clear, and is rubber toughened. The rubber gives it some flexibility which is ideal for applications that are in an environment that might have minimal vibration or shock.

Yes, Cyanoacrylate commonly comes in black which is rubber toughened. This would be an industrial application. For the consumer industry, particularly in the Finger Nail Industry, there are dyes that are compatible with the Cyanoacrylates. Vivid reds and pinks are the most common.

Gel Cyanoacrylates are best when gap filling is needed. Gel can fill gaps up to 0.01” and is recommended for porous materials such as ceramic and wood.

The Material Safety Data Sheet is required by the Federal Government in the manufacture of Chemical Materials. The MSDS is a health hazard preventive and lists the material contents and precautions. In addition, the MSDS will give you disposure requirements.

The Technical Data Sheet gives you the parameters and physical properties of the product. In the case of Cyanoacrylates it will give you the viscosity, cure speed, dielectric strength, and temperature resistance.

There are several Cyanoacrylate removers on the market. The most commonly used is Acetone. Acetone is available in finger nail polish remover. The easiest method is plenty of soap and hot water. If it gets in your eyes, flush with plenty of water and call a Physician.

Thread Lockers are anaerobic products, which means that they set up in the absence of air. The bottles must have maximum air space to prevent them from setting up.

It’s always best to clean the surface before applying. Be sure to remove all grease, dirt and rust. For best results in removing rust, use a wire brush. For grease and dirt use a clean cloth with ??Turbo-Lock Primer/Activator #70-008?? and let dry.

If necessary, the best way to remove a Permanent RED Thread Locker is to apply heat with a torch (260 ^o^ F) and then use a wrench.

Anaerobic threadlockers need metal ionization and the absence of air to cure, such as when a nut is screwed onto a bolt, squeezing out the air – and hence, the Anaerobic drying and locking.

We recommend ??Turbo-Lock BLUE Plastic Screw Permanent (Series 20)?? for use on plastic screws. This threadlocker is actually a cyanoacrylate adhesive and works well on plastic screws.

Retaining Compounds are put on bearings before securing them onto shafts, or other non-threaded cylindrical attachments such a press fits and slip fits. Thread Lockers are put on threaded bolts before the nuts are put on. Thread Lockers and Thread Sealants are designed for different purposes and applications, and should not be used interchangeably. Threadlockers lock and seal threaded parts with a strong locking/bonding strength for the prevention of the nut backing off. Thread Sealants seal threaded parts tighter to withstand very high pressure, but with lower locking/bonding strength. A sealant may be viscous material that has little or no flow characteristics and stay where they are applied or thin and runny so as to allow them to penetrate the substrate by means of capillary reaction.

Anaerobic acrylic sealants, generally referred to as impregnates, are the most desirable as they are required to cure in the absence of air, unlike surface sealants that require air as part of the cure mechanism that changes state to become solid, once applied. Adhesive sealants are used to prevent the penetration of air, gas, noise, dust, fire, smoke or liquid from one location through a barrier into another.

Typically, sealants are used to close small openings that are difficult to shut with other materials, such as threads. Desirable properties of sealants include insolubility, corrosion resistance, and adhesion. Uses of sealants vary widely and sealants are used in many industries, for example, construction, automotive and aerospace industries.

No matter what the application, a sealant has three basic functions.

• It fills a gap between two or more substrates
• It forms a barrier through the physical properties of the sealant itself and by adhesion to the substrate
• It maintains sealing properties for the expected lifetime, service conditions and environments

The sealant performs these functions by way of correct formulation to achieve specific application and performance properties. Unlike adhesives, however, there are not many functional alternatives to the sealing process. The simplicity and reliability offered by organic elastomers usually make them the clear choice for performing these functions.

The main difference between adhesives and sealants is that sealants typically have lower strength and higher elongation than do adhesives. Since the main objective of a sealant is to seal assemblies and joints, sealants need to have sufficient adhesion to the substrates and resistance to environmental conditions to remain bonded over the required life of the assembly.

When sealants are used between substrates having different thermal coefficients of expansion or differing elongation under stress, they need to have adequate flexibility and elongation. Sealants generally contain inert filler material and are usually formulated with an elastomer to give the required flexibility and elongation. They usually have a paste consistency to allow filling of gaps between substrates. Low shrinkage after application is often required. Many adhesive technologies can be formulated into sealants.

Adhesive Sealants, despite not having great strength, do convey a number of properties. They seal the substrate at the glue line; they are particularly effective in keeping moisture in or out of the components in which they are used. They may provide thermal and acoustical insulation and may serve as fire barriers; sometimes they contain electrical properties.

Yes. Turbo Fuse Marine Semi-Gel is water resistant immediately upon application. Marine Semi-Gel is especially ideal for smooth surfaces, such as plastic, glass or ceramic. It hardens by solvent evaporation, so allow time for thorough hardening to ensure proper bonding and wear resistance.

A full cure takes 24 hours, depending on the surrounding environment. With lower temperatures and higher humidity, cure time increases; with higher temperatures, cure time decreases. To speed drying time, apply heat using a handheld dryer set on low. Hold dryer at least 6 inches from the surface.

Turbo Fuse Coral Gel is a cyanoacrylate instant adhesive. It’s excellent for gluing stony coral fragments to coral rock and other surfaces. No concern with irritation to tank inhabitants from leaching epoxy curing agents. Turbo Fuse Gel formulas are ideal marine cyanoacrylate adhesives and are perfect as aquarium adhesive or coral glue.

Cyanoacrylate is an instant adhesive, so you have little or no time to align parts. Gap filling, thick versions of a cyanoacrylate adhesive usually dry slower and work better as wood glue. Special versions are offered to deal with oily woods and bonding metals to wood. CA can be used at almost any temperature both indoors and out as a wood glue. In all cases, CA forms a permanent waterproof bond when used as a wood glue.
